Questions About Our Church Center

  • What is the meaning behind the C.H. Brown Christian Center logo?

Circle: God’s church is a family, may the circle be unbroken.

Cross: Then said Jesus unto his disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Name: C. H. Brown was an ordained minister in the Church of God in Christ. He inspired others to believe in the church he loved, the church he called “the greatest church in the world.”

Scripture: John 21:15 “He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, feed my sheep.”

Hands and cradled lamb: God has the whole world in his hands.

  • What does the Church of God in Christ believe?

The COGIC denomination has a rich history, and is passionate in our beliefs. Our denomination stands firm by these beliefs:

    • The Bible is the authoritative Word of God, is fully inspirational, and the only authority in all matters.
    • We believe in the Trinity (or Triune Godhead), consisting of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. God, the Father Almighty, is the author and creator of all things. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was born of a virgin, came to Earth as a "suffering servant" seeking to redeem man from sin, and now stands as mediator between God and man. The Holy Ghost is the gift from God to equip and empower the believer for their witness to the world.
    • We believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost, that it is an experience following conversion and sanctification through the evidence of speaking in tongues, and that a Holy Ghost experience is mandatory for all men today.
    • We believe that man is born into sin, and needs to be born again (cleansed of sin by the blood of Jesus) by confessing sins and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.
    • We believe in the Second Coming, that Christ will return to Earth, bodily and visibly, and His bride (the Church) will be caught up to meet him in the air.
    • We believe in Divine Healing, healing by faith in God, and that it was a commandment from Jesus to His apostles, and that it has scriptural support and ordained authority.
    • We believe in miracles, extraordinary visible acts of Divine power, are a means to convince men that the Bible is God's Word.
    • We believe that ordinances of the Church, instituted by Christ, include Holy Communion, feet washing, and water baptism.
